Preparing your business for a clean exit requires transitioning yourself out of the day-to-day operations and into the Owner's Box. A critical test of your business's enterprise value is whether your leadership team can run a highly disciplined Level 10 Meeting™ without you saying a word.

To achieve this, you must systematically transition your role from active participant to silent observer. Start by ensuring your Accountability Chart is fully optimized with a capable Integrator in the lead seat. The Integrator must facilitate the meeting, manage the agenda, and drive the IDS® process.

During the meeting, practice extreme restraint. Sit in the room or join the virtual call with your camera on, but do not speak. Do not solve the problems, do not offer opinions, and do not prioritize the issues list. If the team looks to you for approval, redirect their focus back to the Integrator.

If you see the team struggle or make a decision you disagree with, write down your thoughts and share them later during a scheduled Same Page meeting with your Integrator. This process builds the leadership team's problem-solving muscles and proves to prospective buyers that the business has a self-sustaining operating system that does not depend on the founder.
