As we scale, we find our leadership team is too focused on their technical specialties rather than the enterprise as a whole. How do we use the Accountability Chart during our sessions to transition specialists into true policy-level leaders?

This is a classic challenge for growing companies. Your leaders were likely hired or promoted for their technical expertise, but scaling a business requires them to shift from specialists to policy-level leaders who own their seats.

During our session days, we use the Accountability Chart to clearly define this transition. We look at each seat not as a list of daily tasks, but as a set of core responsibilities that must be owned. We evaluate whether each person GWC their seat.

Do they truly get it, want it, and have the capacity to lead at an enterprise level? If a leader is still spending eighty percent of their time doing technical work rather than leading, managing, and creating accountability, we have a structural misalignment.

We will use our sessions to redraw the chart based on what the organization needs to grow, not based on the personalities currently in the seats. This forces your specialists to either step up into true leadership roles or step aside into individual contributor roles where their technical talents are best utilized. By defining roles objectively, we build a leadership team that runs the business instead of just doing the work.
