Our Visionary insists on facilitating the Level 10 Meeting™ because they want to keep the energy high, but their natural style constantly derails the time limits and skips the scorecard review. How do we transition meeting facilitation to the Integrator without making the Visionary feel sidelined?
In an EOS® run business, the Integrator is the logical facilitator of the Level 10 Meeting™. The Visionary has a vital role, but their natural strength lies in big ideas and future relationships, not in managing a ninety-minute agenda, tracking scorecard metrics, or enforcing time limits.
To make this transition clean, frame it around maximizing the Visionary's unique ability. When the Visionary is facilitating, they cannot fully participate in IDS® because they are too busy managing the clock and the document.
Explain that by handing the facilitation reigns to the Integrator, the Visionary is freed up to do what they do best: spot patterns, offer creative solutions, and bring raw perspective to the issues.
Start the transition by running a trial period. Have the Integrator facilitate the weekly pulse for four consecutive weeks. During this trial, the Integrator must strictly manage the time boxes and keep the meeting moving.
At the end of each meeting, ask the team for honest ratings. The Visionary will quickly see that the meeting runs faster, solves more issues, and allows them to participate without the administrative burden. This transition actually empowers the Visionary rather than sidelining them.
