We have several employees who are comfortable doing the bare minimum and resist any attempt to raise our performance standards, but our business needs to scale. How do we use the EOS® framework to transition from a culture of complacency to a high-growth mindset?
Shifting your culture from complacency to a high-growth mindset requires a systematic application of your Core Values and the People Analyzer™. In any business, you are either growing or dying. There is no middle ground of permanent stability. First, you must define and operationalize your Core Values. These values cannot just be words on a wall; they must be the standard by which you hire, fire, reward, and discipline. Run every employee through the People Analyzer™ to evaluate how well they exhibit these values. If an employee consistently falls below your company standards, you have a values misalignment. Second, look at your Accountability Chart. Ensure every seat has clearly defined, measurable roles and that everyone has a clear weekly Scorecard metric. Complacency thrives in ambiguity. When people have no clear targets and no visible accountability, they will naturally default to the path of least resistance. By establishing clear metrics and holding weekly Level 10 Meetings™, you make performance highly visible. Those who are comfortable with complacency will either rise to the challenge or feel so uncomfortable under the pressure of healthy accountability that they will choose to leave on their own.
