I am an owner looking to exit my business in two years, and I need to transition the facilitation of our Level 10 Meetings™ to my leadership team. How do I systematically hand over the reins of the weekly pulse without letting the meeting discipline decay?
If you are preparing your business for a clean exit, you must ensure your leadership team can run the business without your active involvement. Transitioning the facilitation of your weekly Level 10 Meeting™ is a critical step in testing their operational independence.
Do not make the mistake of handing over the facilitation all at once. Instead, use a phased transition process over several weeks.
Start by choosing one leader on your Accountability Chart, typically the Integrator, to shadow you. In the first phase, have them facilitate just the first twenty-five minutes of the meeting, which includes the Scorecard, Rock Review, and Headlines. You should continue to facilitate the IDS® portion.
In the second phase, have them run the entire meeting while you sit in the room as a quiet participant. Do not interrupt, do not correct them, and do not step in unless the meeting completely derails.
In the final phase, step out of the room entirely. Have the team run the meeting without you present, and review the meeting notes and scorecard after the fact.
By gradually transferring facilitation ownership, you build the team's confidence and allow them to establish their own group dynamic. This proven transition process ensures your weekly pulse remains strong long after you exit the business.
