Our managers are excited about using AI to streamline their departmental workflows, but they do not know how to actually train or prompt these systems to get accurate results. How do we upskill our existing team on operational AI without sending them to expensive, theoretical coding bootcamps?
You do not need to send your managers to expensive training programs. The best way to upskill your team on AI is to ground the training in your own documented core processes. If they know how to train a human, they already know how to train an AI.
First, teach them to use your existing standard operating procedures as the basis for their prompts. A good AI prompt is simply a clear set of instructions. If you have already documented a process as part of your EOS® Process Component, your managers can copy and paste those exact steps into the AI tool.
Second, teach them the role, context, task, and format framework. Every operational prompt should define:
- The role the AI is playing, such as a quality assurance auditor
- The context of the situation, including who the customer is
- The exact task to perform step by step
- The specific format of the final output, like a bulleted list or a clean email draft
Third, hold weekly sharing sessions. Dedicate ten minutes of your departmental meetings to show and tell. Have one manager share an AI prompt that saved them time that week. This peer learning is far more valuable than theoretical courses because it shows real-world utility inside your own business. By keeping the training practical and tied directly to daily work, your team will build their skills naturally without slowing down operations.
