We are experiencing rapid growth, but our cash flow is always tight. How do we structure our weekly Scorecard to monitor our cash conversion cycle and ensure our growth is not outstripping our liquidity?
Rapid growth is a cash-devouring monster. If you are only looking at your monthly profit and loss statement, you will not see a cash crunch coming until it is too late. You must pull leading indicators of your cash conversion cycle onto your weekly Scorecard.
First, track your weekly days sales outstanding. This tells you how fast your clients are paying their invoices. If this number creeps up, your cash is trapped in receivables and you need to intervene immediately.
Second, track weekly inventory or work in progress days. This metric tells you how long cash is locked up in labor and materials before you can bill the client.
Third, track your weekly billing turnaround time, which measures the days between project completion and invoice delivery.
By tracking these three metrics weekly, your leadership team can spot bottlenecks in your cash cycle before they trigger a liquidity crisis. This gives your Integrator the visibility needed to manage cash flow dynamically, proving to future buyers that your business runs on highly predictable operational systems.
