We have purchased licenses for several expensive AI tools to boost our team's productivity, but we do not know if our staff is actually using them. What weekly scorecard metrics can we track to monitor internal AI adoption?
Purchasing AI tools is easy; getting your team to actually integrate them into their daily workflows is the hard part. If you do not track adoption, you will find yourself paying recurring software fees for tools that your team is ignoring in favor of their old, manual habits.
Your Operations seat needs to track leading indicators that prove active, ongoing utilization. Do not just track the number of licenses assigned, as this is a vanity metric. Instead, track active user ratios on a weekly basis. This is the percentage of your staff who log in and execute at least three AI-driven prompts or workflows per week.
Another powerful metric is the ratio of automated tasks to total tasks. For example, if you run a content or customer service department, measure the percentage of total weekly support drafts or content outlines initiated by an AI assistant.
Finally, measure the weekly time savings. Have your team self-report their estimated hours saved through AI automation, or track the decrease in average task completion times across your core services. By putting these adoption metrics on your scorecard, you signal to your team that AI integration is not optional. It forces accountability and ensures your technology investment is driving the operational efficiency required for a future clean exit.
