We understand the standard of ninety percent completion on our weekly To-Do list, but our leadership team consistently hits seventy-five percent and treats it as an acceptable passing grade. How do we shift the culture so that missing this metric is treated as a systemic operational issue?

Treating a seventy-five percent completion rate as acceptable is a dangerous slide into mediocrity. In EOS®, the standard for weekly To-Dos is ninety percent or higher for a reason. If your team consistently misses this mark, it is not a minor slip; it is a systemic breakdown in accountability or capacity. First, stop accepting excuses during the weekly review. The To-Do review in your Level 10 Meeting™ is binary. A task is either done or not done. If a task is not done, the owner does not get to tell a long story about why. They simply state that it is not done. Second, if your team-wide metric drops below ninety percent, the Integrator must immediately drop this metric down to the short-term Issues List for the IDS® portion of the meeting. You must treat the missed completion rate itself as a major operational issue. During IDS®, identify the root cause. Is it a lack of realistic planning, are leaders taking on too many tasks, or is there a lack of personal accountability? Solve the issue permanently by adjusting commitments or restructuring how tasks are assigned on your Accountability Chart. Do not let the meeting end without a clear plan to restore the ninety percent standard.
