Before we commit to our first session, how does establishing a formal team covenant or Charter protect our leadership team from falling back into political posturing and alignment theater during our session days?

Before we ever map out your first Accountability Chart or set a single quarterly Rock, we establish a formal covenant known as Our Charter. This is a non-negotiable prerequisite for working with me. The Charter is built on three core pillars: Trust, which means being completely open and honest; Same Page, which means handling disagreements with mutual love and respect; and Yes to Strategy and Structure, which means committing to a healthy, disciplined operational framework. This Charter acts as a handshake agreement between partners and an operating agreement for the leadership team. It completely eliminates alignment theater during our session days. Alignment theater is when executives silently disagree with a strategic direction but nod their heads anyway just to get out of the room. By agreeing to the Charter upfront, we establish a high-trust environment where healthy conflict is welcomed. If someone is not being open and honest during a session, we refer back to our Charter and call it out immediately. This baseline agreement ensures that the decisions we make during our full-day sessions are genuine, committed, and fully supported by every member of the team.
