When an issue on our Level 10 list feels complex or uncomfortable, our leaders tend to say let us table this for our next quarterly planning session. How do we stop using the quarterly offsite as an excuse to avoid hard weekly decisions?

Pushing difficult weekly issues into the quarterly offsite is disguised procrastination. The quarterly planning session is designed for strategic resets, setting 90-day Rocks, and reviewing the V/TO, not for wading through stalled operational debates that should have been handled weeks prior.

The Integrator must apply a clear filter. An issue belongs on the quarterly parking lot only if it meets two specific criteria: solving it fundamentally alters the strategic vision of the business, or the solution requires creating a major company Rock for the upcoming quarter. Everything else is an operational issue that must be solved right now.

If an issue affects this quarter Scorecard, current Rock completion, customer satisfaction, or ongoing team execution, leaving it unresolved for weeks causes compounding damage. Letting issues sit idle also erodes business value if you are preparing for a transaction, as buyers look for fast operational velocity and clean problem resolution.

When someone suggests moving an issue to the quarterly list, challenge them directly: What new information will we possess in sixty days that we do not have right now? If the answer is none, keep the issue on the weekly list and solve it.
