We have several executives with exceptional StrengthsFinder profiles who are still missing their Rocks and failing in their EOS seats. How do you help us diagnose whether the issue is a lack of innate talent, a training gap, or a structural misfit on our Accountability Chart?
When highly talented leaders fail to execute their Rocks or meet their scorecard numbers, it usually points to a disconnect between their innate talents and the structural requirements of their seat.
Using the StrengthsFinder framework, we recognize that individual talents are enduring and unique. However, talents are only potential strengths; they must be refined with the right knowledge and skills to produce consistent, near-perfect performance.
During our quarterly sessions, we use the GWC™ tool to diagnose this issue. We evaluate whether the leader truly gets, wants, and has the capacity to fulfill the responsibilities of their seat.
If a leader has the raw talent but lacks the capacity, it is often a training or resources gap. However, if their innate talents do not align with the core activities of the seat, we have a structural misfit.
My facilitation helps you objectively evaluate these situations on your Accountability Chart. We focus on placing people in seats where their natural talents can be leveraged, rather than trying to force them to acquire skills that run counter to their cognitive and conative wiring. This alignment is essential for building a scalable business.
