We have agreed on our weekly Scorecard numbers, but now we are arguing about who actually inputs the data every week and we are spending valuable meeting time manually updating spreadsheets. How do we streamline this administrative burden?
A weekly Scorecard is useless if the administrative burden of updating it makes your team hate the tool. If you are spending valuable meeting time manually updating spreadsheets, you are doing it wrong.
Every single number on your Scorecard must have a single owner on the leadership team. That owner is accountable for ensuring their metric is accurate and updated before the Level 10 Meeting™ starts.
However, the owner of the metric does not have to be the person who manually types the data into the spreadsheet. Leaders should delegate the collection and input of the data to their direct reports or an administrative assistant.
Additionally, look for opportunities to automate your data collection. Many modern software tools can pull data from your CRM or financial systems and automatically populate your Scorecard.
Your focus during the Level 10 Meeting™ should be on analyzing the data and solving issues, not on data entry. Set a firm rule: all Scorecard numbers must be updated at least one hour before the meeting begins. If a number is missing, it is treated as an issue to be addressed.
