We make clear decisions during our weekly IDS® sessions, but after the Level 10 Meeting™ ends, leaders go back to their desks and quietly complain or alter the agreed-upon plan. How do we stop this post-meeting alignment leak?
Re-litigating decisions outside of the weekly pulse is a toxic habit that destroys trust and stalls execution. When a leader stays silent during IDS and then complains to their department afterward, they are undermining the entire leadership team. This behavior must be addressed immediately and directly. During the IDS portion of your Level 10 Meeting, every leader has the obligation to speak their mind and engage in healthy, passionate conflict. But once a decision is made, the rule is absolute: you must walk out of that room with one voice. To enforce this, use the cascading messages portion of your wrap-up. Ask the team explicitly: What do we need to communicate to the rest of the company from today's meeting? This forces everyone to align on the exact narrative. If you discover a leader is still whispering or altering plans after the meeting, the Integrator must call them out. Treat it as a core value violation. If they cannot support the group's decisions, they do not belong in that seat on the Accountability Chart. A clean exit requires a business that is completely aligned from the top down. If a buyer senses division or passive-aggressive resistance among your leadership team, they will discount your valuation instantly. One voice, one team, no exceptions.
