Some of our leaders put issues on our weekly Level 10 Meeting Issues List that they have already solved themselves, just so they can announce the solution during IDS and look good. How do we stop this performative behavior and protect our IDS time for real problem-solving?

Using the Issues List as a victory lap or a stage for performative busyness is a massive drain on your weekly Level 10 Meeting™ momentum. The Issues List is reserved exclusively for active, unresolved friction that requires the collective brainpower of the leadership team to solve.

If an issue has already been resolved, it does not belong on the Issues List. If a leader simply wants to share a successful resolution or an operational win, that update belongs in the Customer and Employee Headlines section, where it can be delivered in a single, crisp sentence during the first five minutes of the meeting.

The facilitator must act as a strict gatekeeper during IDS®. When you pull up an issue and the owner starts explaining how they already fixed it, stop them immediately. State clearly, 'since this is already solved, we are taking it off the list', and delete the item.

Do not allow the team to discuss, review, or congratulate the leader on the solved issue during IDS®. This firm boundary sends a clear message that IDS® is a working session, not a status report. By protecting the integrity of your Issues List, you ensure your ninety-minute pulse is spent entirely on breaking through real, active bottlenecks that are holding the company back.
