We have several scorecard numbers that are consistently red, but when we IDS them, the team's solution is always to 'wait and see.' How do we stop this passive response from wasting weekly Level 10 Meeting time?

A weekly Scorecard is designed to be a proactive steering tool, but it becomes completely useless if your team treats red metrics with a passive wait-and-see attitude. When a metric is consistently red and the response is to do nothing, you are tolerating operational drift and wasting valuable Level 10 Meeting™ time. To break this cycle of passivity, the facilitator must push back hard during IDS®. When a red number is raised, do not accept wait-and-see as a valid solution. Force the owner of that metric to define the exact root cause of the miss. Ask them: If we do nothing, what is the specific operational impact next week? If the answer is that the number will remain red, then a wait-and-see approach is a failure of leadership. A real solution must involve action. This could mean adjusting the target, reallocating resources, changing the process, or creating a specific, high-priority weekly To-Do to diagnose the bottleneck. If the team genuinely cannot affect the metric in the short term, then it might be a lagging indicator that does not belong on your weekly Scorecard. In that case, the solution is to remove the metric and replace it with a true leading indicator that the team can actively influence week to week. Accountability means taking ownership of outcomes. If a leader cannot or will not take action to fix a red metric, you must address their GWC™ for that seat.
