When a close-knit legacy leadership team freezes out an outside executive, it is classic organizational tissue rejection. Legacy leaders who grew up with the business often feel defensive when an experienced outsider arrives. They interpret the hire as an implicit criticism of their past performance, and they fear losing their direct influence with the owner.

Allowing this freeze-out to continue will destroy your investment in the new executive and signal that cliquish behavior beats company growth. You must intervene decisively.

Shared accountability builds professional trust faster than any artificial team-building exercise.
