The Level 10 Meeting is designed to keep your business operating at a high level of weekly traction. It is a tactical meeting, not a strategic planning session. When your visionary or another highly creative leader brings up massive, strategic ideas during the scorecard or rock reviews, they disrupt the meeting pulse and steal time from resolving current operational fires.

The facilitator must protect the agenda aggressively. When a strategic idea or a long-term project proposal surfaces during the first half of the meeting, the facilitator must immediately intervene and drop it onto the Issues List. Do not allow the team to discuss, debate, or even comment on the idea in that moment.

Say something direct and neutral like, that is a great strategic thought, let's put it on the Issues List. This keeps the meeting moving and honors the visionary's input without allowing it to derail the agenda.

Once you get to the IDS portion of the meeting, you must evaluate if that strategic issue actually belongs on the weekly list. If it requires deep strategic debate, a major financial decision, or changes to your V/TO, it does not belong in your weekly Level 10 Meeting. Drop it to your long-term issues list, which you will address during your next quarterly collaborative planning session.
