I am the Visionary and I keep going directly to mid-level managers to assign tasks because my leadership team moves too slowly, but my Integrator says I am undermining their authority. How do I stop this habit and work through the Accountability Chart instead of around it?

Bypassing your leadership team is a classic Visionary trap that breeds confusion and destroys trust. Every time you skip a level to assign a task, you strip your leaders of their authority and teach mid-level managers that the Accountability Chart does not actually matter.

To break this habit, you must commit to the relationship with your Integrator. The Integrator is the buffer and the executor. Your role as the Visionary is to generate big ideas and maintain strategic relationships, not to direct daily operations.

When you have a new idea or a task that needs immediate attention, you must bring it to your weekly Same-Page Meeting with your Integrator first. Discuss the idea, let them filter it, and decide together if it aligns with your V/TO®. If it does, the Integrator will pass it down through the proper channels.

Use your weekly Level 10 Meeting™ to raise issues regarding execution speed. If you feel the leadership team is moving too slowly, put that on the Issues List and IDS® it with the entire team. Do not try to solve a systemic execution issue by micro-managing individual tasks.

Consider your own conative style. As a high Quick Start on the Kolbe A™ Index, your instinct is to move fast and experiment. Your leadership team may have higher Follow Thru and Fact Finder scores, meaning they need to build systems and gather facts before executing. This is a healthy balance, not a bottleneck. Respect their conative strengths, work through your Integrator, and stay in your own seat.
