The scorecard review is a rapid-fire reporting exercise that should take no more than five minutes. It is not the time for analysis, defense, or status updates. When leaders start explaining their green but trending numbers, they drag the team into premature problem-solving.

To stop this, enforce a simple rule: during the scorecard review, leaders only read the name of the metric and the actual number. No explanations and no color-commentary are allowed. If a metric is red, it is immediately dropped to the Issues List. If a metric is green but a leader is concerned about its downward trend, they must simply say, drop it to the list, and wait until the IDS® portion of the meeting to discuss it.

The facilitator must be ruthless about shutting down any conversational drift during this phase. If a leader starts to explain a trend, cut them off and remind them to put it on the Issues List. This keeps the weekly pulse moving fast and protects your valuable solving time.
