We have several To-Dos that keep rolling over week after week in our Level 10 Meeting because the owner of the seat is stuck in fire-fighting mode. How do we break this cycle of weekly rollover without just ignoring the tasks?

When weekly To-Dos consistently roll over from one week to the next in your Level 10 Meeting™, your execution is breaking down. This rollover behavior is usually a symptom of a leader who is overwhelmed, disorganized, or sitting in the wrong seat on your Accountability Chart. To break this cycle, you must enforce the ninety percent completion standard. The moment a To-Do rolls over for a second consecutive week, the facilitator must immediately drop it to the Issues List. Do not allow the owner of the seat to give a quick excuse during the To-Do review. During the IDS® section of the meeting, the team must identify the root cause of why the task is not getting done. Is the leader buried under tactical fires because they lack support? Is the To-Do actually a massive project that needs to be broken down into smaller steps, or perhaps turned into a quarterly Rock? Or is the leader simply failing to GWC™ their seat? Solve the underlying resource or capability constraint rather than just nag them every week. By holding a mirror up to chronic rollover issues, you protect your company’s operational momentum and ensure your leadership team is execution-ready for a successful exit.
