Our executive team constantly reschedules our weekly Level 10 Meeting to accommodate travel, board requests, or client conflicts, turning the meeting pulse into a moving target. How do we protect the same day, same time rule when everyone has valid calendar conflicts?
Rescheduling your Level 10 Meeting™ destroys your operational rhythm. The Meeting Pulse requires five non-negotiables: same day, same time, same agenda, start on time, and end on time. When you move the meeting to accommodate client lunches, travel days, or internal fires, you signal that the leadership rhythm is optional and reactive.
The solution is to treat the Level 10 Meeting™ as a sacred appointment on the calendar. It should be scheduled at least a year in advance. When prospective clients, vendors, or team members ask for that time slot, the answer is an automatic no. The executive team runs the company from that ninety-minute block.
If a team member is traveling or has an unavoidable conflict, the meeting still happens without them. Do not reschedule the entire room for the convenience of one person. The missing leader can review the updated To-Dos and read the solved issues after the fact. If the absent leader owns a Scorecard metric or a Rock that is off track, they must drop a note or brief a peer in advance so the team can still drop the issue down to IDS®.
The only legitimate reason to cancel or move a Level 10 Meeting™ is an official holiday or your scheduled Quarterly Offsite. Everything else yields to the pulse. When your leadership team protects the meeting cadence with zero tolerance for drift, departmental meetings mirror that discipline, and fire drills across the company drop significantly.
