We have a few leaders who remain completely silent during the IDS portion of our weekly Level 10 Meeting, but the second the meeting ends, they start lobbying other team members in the hallway or over Slack about the very decisions we just made. How do we shut down this passive-aggressive post-meeting lobbying and force them to speak up during the actual meeting?
The meeting after the meeting is a toxic behavior that destroys trust and undermines your weekly meeting pulse. When leaders stay silent during IDS® and then lobby their peers in private afterward, they are refusing to enter into healthy, open conflict. This behavior prevents the team from reaching genuine alignment. To stop this, your facilitator must actively call out silence during the meeting. If you are discussing a major issue and a quiet leader has a direct stake in the outcome, the facilitator must ask them directly for their input. Force them to state their position while everyone is in the room. Furthermore, the leadership team must agree to a strict rule: if you do not voice your objection during the Level 10 Meeting™, you must fully support the decision once the meeting ends. Post-meeting lobbying must be treated as a violation of your core values. If you discover that hallway discussions or private messaging campaigns are happening after the meeting, the Integrator must put this behavior directly on the issues list for the next week. Address it head-on during IDS®. Challenge the silent leaders to explain why they chose not to speak up during the official slot. Building a culture of honest conflict requires that all debates happen in the open, where the entire team can participate and commit to the final decision.
