The five-minute segue is designed to transition your team from working in the business to working on the business. It is a quick tool to share human connection and positive news. When a team member uses this time to drop a major piece of bad news or a complex update, they hijack the meeting energy and cause instant agenda drift.

To stop this behavior, the facilitator must immediately intervene. If a leader starts their segue with a professional best that is actually a disguised issue, the facilitator must cut them off mid-sentence.
