How do we prevent our daily operations from swallowing the strategic goals we set on session days, and what is your role in keeping us accountable between our 90-day meetings?
The natural human tendency is to let daily fires consume our strategic focus. To prevent this, we must build a system that protects what we call white space, which is unscheduled time dedicated to thinking and planning. Between our quarterly sessions, you must treat your quarterly Rocks as non-negotiable commitments. We do this by implementing a rigorous weekly Level 10 Meeting™ cadence. This meeting is your primary defense against operational drift. It forces you to pause for ninety minutes every week to look at your scorecard, review your Rock progress, and solve the critical issues holding you back.
My role between sessions is not to act as a micromanager or a daily coach. If I am constantly policing your daily activities, I am preventing your leadership team from becoming self-sufficient. Instead, I provide the behavioral framework and tools that keep you honest. I am available for brief strategic pivots when you hit a major roadblock, but the heavy lifting must be done by your team.
We focus on changing your internal language from "we can't hit this Rock because of daily fires" to "we don't allow daily fires to compromise our quarterly commitments." This shift in identity is how you build a permanent habit of execution.
