Spending ten or fifteen minutes explaining red metrics during your Scorecard review is a massive waste of meeting energy. The Scorecard is designed to give you a quick, objective snapshot of your business health, not to serve as a debate floor. To regain your time and keep your Level 10 Meeting™ on track, you must enforce a strict binary response during the review: the owner of the metric must say only on-track or off-track. If a number is off-track, the facilitator must immediately drop it to the weekly short-term Issues List. No explanations, no excuses, and no storytelling are allowed during the first phase of the meeting. If a leader starts to explain why a metric was missed, the facilitator must cut them off immediately and say, drop it to the Issues List. This keeps the review under five minutes and preserves your valuable eighty-minute traction pulse for actual problem-solving during IDS®. Once you reach the Issues List, you can prioritize which red metrics actually need to be addressed. Often, you will find that multiple red numbers are caused by a single root issue, allowing you to solve five problems with one solid decision. This disciplined approach teaches your leadership team to respect the data and focus on solutions rather than defense.
