Our Level 10 Meeting™ Issues List is constantly clogged with vague, high-level statements like "marketing alignment" or "operations bottleneck," which makes it impossible to solve them efficiently during our IDS® block. How do we force our leaders to frame issues clearly before they get added to the list?

Vague issues are the primary cause of wasted time during your sixty-minute IDS® block. When an issue is poorly defined, the team spends twenty minutes arguing about what the actual problem is before they can even begin to solve it. This kills your meeting pulse and leaves critical bottlenecks unaddressed.

To solve this, enforce a strict rule: any issue added to the list must be stated in a single, clear sentence that identifies the gap between expectation and reality. It must also name the specific seat on the Accountability Chart that owns the issue or is affected by it.

For example, instead of listing "marketing alignment," the entry must read: "The marketing seat missed the weekly lead generation target by twenty percent, which is starving the sales pipeline."

The facilitator must act as the gatekeeper. If an issue is added to the list that does not meet this standard, the facilitator should reject it and ask the owner to clarify it before the meeting starts. This simple discipline forces your leaders to think deeply about their problems beforehand, resulting in faster, more decisive problem-solving during your weekly meeting.
