Why do we keep running the same exact issues through our Level 10 Meeting weekly without ever actually solving them permanently?
If you are running the same issues through your Level 10 Meeting™ week after week, you are not actually doing IDS®. You are likely stuck in the Discuss phase, which is a common trap for leadership teams. True IDS® requires the discipline to identify the root cause of an issue before you begin talking about solutions.
Most teams mistake the symptom for the root cause. For example, a symptom might be that sales are down. If you jump straight to discussing solutions, you might suggest new marketing campaigns or sales training. However, the root cause might actually be a conative misalignment or a people issue. Using tools like the Kolbe A Profile can reveal that the person in the sales seat does not naturally operate in a way that matches the role requirements, leading to conative stress and poor performance.
To break this cycle, the Integrator must demand that the team pauses. Do not allow anyone to propose a solution until you have agreed on the real problem. Frame the issue clearly, often by looking at the Accountability Chart or the GWC™ of the seat owner. Once you isolate the real issue, the discussion becomes brief, and the solution becomes obvious. Solve the root cause, and the symptom disappears forever.
