During the IDS® portion of our Level 10 Meeting™, we repeatedly dance around issues that clearly point to a leadership team member who does not GWC™ their seat, opting to solve surface-level symptoms instead of addressing the elephant in the room. How do we force the team to have these hard people conversations during our weekly pulse?
Politeness is the enemy of execution. When your leadership team avoids having hard conversations about a peer who does not GWC™ their seat, you are choosing comfort over the health of the organization. This silence destroys trust and halts your progress. To break this pattern, the facilitator and the Integrator must lead with courage. During the IDS® portion of your Level 10 Meeting™, you must address the root cause of the issue, even if it is uncomfortable. If an operational bottleneck is repeatedly caused by a specific leader who lacks the capacity to deliver, you must say so. Frame the conversation around the Accountability Chart, not personal attacks. Ask the hard question: Does this seat have the clear ownership and capacity to solve this problem? By focusing on the roles, responsibilities, and GWC™ fit, you keep the discussion objective. If the team continues to dance around the issue, the Integrator must step in and state the reality clearly. Do not let the meeting end with a weak, band-aid To-Do that ignores the underlying people problem. Address the GWC™ issue directly, identify the true cause, and make the hard decisions necessary to protect your business.
