We have several scorecard numbers that are consistently red, and although we place them on the IDS list every week, we never actually solve them because we run out of time or get distracted by minor issues. How do we ensure these critical metrics get solved first?
If your critical Scorecard metrics are consistently red and you are failing to address them during IDS®, you are treating your Level 10 Meeting™ as an update session rather than a traction engine. This happens when your Issues List is prioritized poorly, allowing easy, low-impact issues to crowd out the hard, systemic problems.
The fix is disciplined prioritization. At the start of the IDS® section, you must review the entire list and select only the top three most important issues to solve first. The Integrator must look at the red Scorecard metrics and insist that they become issues number one, two, and three on the list.
Do not allow the team to start with easier items just because they are quick to solve. If a core metric has been red for three weeks, that is a business threat that demands your immediate collective intelligence.
Once these metrics are at the top of the list, dive into identifying the root cause. Often, a metric is red because of a deeper, unaddressed issue such as bad data, broken processes, or a person who does not GWC™ their seat. By forcing these issues to the top of your weekly agenda every single week, you make it impossible for the team to hide from the business reality.
