We are consistently hitting a seventy percent to-do completion rate week after week, and it is stalling our operational execution. What is the systematic cure to get this back above our ninety percent target without micromanaging?
A consistent seventy percent to-do completion rate is a leading indicator of an accountability gap in your organization. In the Level 10 Meeting™, our target is ninety percent or better. When you regularly fall short of this, it means your team is treating to-dos as optional suggestions rather than firm, binary commitments.
The cure is not micromanagement, it is strict adherence to the weekly meeting discipline. First, look at how your to-dos are written. They must be single-week, actionable items that can realistically be completed within seven days. If a to-do is too broad, it must be broken down.
Second, when a to-do is not completed, it should not simply roll over to the next week with a shrug. The owner must explain why, and if it happens twice, the item must be dropped to the Issues List. You must IDS® the lack of completion. Is the person overloaded? Do they lack the tools? Or do they simply not GWC™ their seat?
Finally, the Integrator must hold a hard line on accountability. A skipped to-do is a broken promise to the team. By bringing these incomplete items to the Issues List, you expose the systemic issues blocking execution. This discipline is essential for preparing your business for a clean exit, as buyers will look closely at your historical ability to execute weekly commitments.
