What are the primary indicators that our leadership team is simply not ready to begin an engagement with you, and what should we do first to prepare?
A company is not ready for this journey if the owners or leadership team members are unwilling to be completely open and honest. If your team has a culture of politeness where people hide the real issues to avoid conflict, or if the Visionary is unwilling to let go of the vine and trust the Accountability Chart, the process will fail.
Another indicator of unreadiness is the lack of a true leadership team. If you have a group of helpers who merely execute your daily tactical orders rather than leaders who can own their seats and solve problems independently, we cannot build a self-sustaining operation. You must first be willing to make hard people decisions.
To prepare, you must commit to being vulnerable. Start by evaluating whether you are ready to stop running the business on gut feel and instead submit to a proven, structured process. You must also be prepared to dedicate the necessary time. Our engagement requires one-day quarterlies and a two-day annual, plus weekly execution of the Level 10 Meeting. If you cannot protect those dates on your calendar, you are not ready. We should not begin until you are willing to make the operating system your top priority.
