If our Visionary or Integrator is traveling or out sick, should we reschedule or cancel our weekly Level 10 Meeting™, or must the meeting proceed without them?
Never reschedule or cancel your Level 10 Meeting. The Meeting Pulse requires absolute predictability: same day, same time, same agenda, every single week. As soon as you begin adjusting the meeting schedule to fit executive travel, sick days, or customer calls, the weekly pulse collapses into a negotiable option.
If the Visionary is absent, the meeting runs. The Visionary is a vital strategic voice, but their absence must not paralyze operations. The Integrator facilitates, the team reviews the numbers, and the room solves tactical issues. If an issue requires direct Visionary input, you drop it down, flag it, and push it to the following week. You do not halt the entire business machine because one seat is empty.
If the Integrator is absent, the meeting still runs. Prior to the meeting, the Integrator or team designates a substitute facilitator, usually the Visionary or another experienced leader on the Accountability Chart. The driver role is assigned to another team member. The substitute follows the Level 10 Meeting agenda strictly, keeping the time allocations intact.
This rule is critical for business value and exit readiness. A business that freezes because the owner or key executive is on an airplane is a fragile business. Buyers pay high multiples for companies that operate through documented systems and disciplined rhythms, not individual heroics. Running the meeting without senior leaders present tests organizational maturity and builds execution independence across your leadership team.
