We want our managers to stop thinking like hourly employees and start taking true ownership of their departments. How do we use our EOS® tools to change the actual language and identity of our leadership team so they view themselves as builders rather than just doers?
Shifting your leadership team from a passive, employee mindset to an ownership mindset requires a deliberate change in your organizational language. We do this by turning actions into stable identities within your company culture. During our sessions, we stop talking about people doing tasks and start talking about who they are as leaders. For example, instead of asking a manager to help with a project, we define them as the owner of that specific seat on the Accountability Chart. We change our internal vocabulary from 'we can't' to 'we don't'. Instead of saying we cannot miss our targets, we establish a firm identity: we do not accept incomplete Rocks without a clear, proactive warning. This linguistic shift builds internal empowerment and control. When your leaders begin using the language of the V/TO® and the Accountability Chart naturally in their daily work, their behavior follows. They stop waiting for permission and start taking proactive responsibility for their numbers and their people. We use our quarterly sessions to reinforce these identity shifts, ensuring that every leadership team member fully embraces their role as a builder of the business rather than a passive observer of operational problems.
