Our leadership team clogs the weekly Level 10 Meeting Issues List with massive strategic questions that cannot be solved in fifteen minutes. How do we separate weekly tactical fires from long-term strategic decisions that belong on the quarterly Issues List?
When long-term strategic debates dominate your weekly Level 10 Meeting, tactical problem solving grinds to a halt. Teams spend forty-five minutes discussing pricing models, market repositioning, or five-year facility expansions, leaving immediate client and operational issues unresolved.
EOS provides two separate locations for issues for this exact reason: the weekly Level 10 Issues List and the long-term Issues List on section two of the Vision/Traction Organizer.
To clean up your weekly agenda, the Integrator must apply an immediate screening filter during the Issue listing phase. An issue belongs on the weekly Level 10 list only if it requires action or resolution within the current quarter to protect Rocks, hit Scorecard metrics, or remove an immediate operational roadblock.
If an issue involves strategic direction, next year budgeting, structural changes to the business model, or ideas for future products, it must be moved directly to the V/TO long-term Issues List. Tell the team member who raised it: that is a strategic question for our next Quarterly Session or Annual Planning.
Moving an issue to the long-term list does not mean dismissing it. It guarantees that the leadership team will dedicate a full day in the session room with the space and data needed to resolve it properly. Keeping weekly sessions focused on ninety-day operational execution protects meeting velocity and ensures real strategic work gets the attention it requires.
