Some of our weekly scorecard metrics are not updated by the time our Level 10 Meeting starts, forcing us to spend valuable minutes chasing down numbers or looking at blank columns. How do we enforce a hard deadline for scorecard updates?

A scorecard with missing numbers is like a pilot flying a plane with a broken dashboard. When leaders show up to the Level 10 Meeting with blank columns, it shows a lack of preparation and disrespect for the team's time. You cannot run an efficient weekly pulse when you are chasing data in real time.

To solve this, establish a hard deadline for scorecard updates that is at least twenty-four hours before the meeting starts. This gives the team, and especially the Integrator, time to review the numbers and prepare their minds for the meeting.

If a leader fails to update their metrics by the deadline, do not let them log in and do it during the meeting. The missing metric must be flagged, and the owner must immediately say drop it to place the missing data on the Issues List.

During IDS, address the root cause of why the metric was not updated. Is the data collection process too manual? Is there a lack of ownership? Or is the leader simply failing to prioritize their weekly prep?

Establishing this discipline is critical, especially when building automated operations. Your scorecard must be accurate and complete to serve as an early warning system for the health of your business.
