The Scorecard review in your Level 10 Meeting™ should take no more than five minutes. If your team is spending valuable time debating where a number came from or how it was calculated, you have a structural problem with your metrics, not a meeting problem.

To fix this, every single metric on your Scorecard must have a clear, documented definition and a single owner from the Accountability Chart. The owner of that metric is responsible for ensuring the data is accurate and updated before the meeting starts.

If a debate about the math or the data source begins during the meeting, the facilitator must stop it immediately. The rule is simple: if there is any question about the validity of a number, that metric is dropped to the short-term Issues List. You do not solve it during the Scorecard review.

During the IDS® portion, you can address the data collection process and clarify the metric definition. Once the meeting is over, the owner of that metric must update the standard operating procedure to ensure the data is clean moving forward. Your weekly meeting is for running the business, not for fixing your reporting tools. Keep the review binary, green or red, and move on.
