The Scorecard review is designed to be a high-speed, data-driven pulse check, not a storytelling session. When leaders spend time explaining why a number is green or justifying a minor variance, they drag the meeting energy down and waste precious time. To enforce a strict reporting rule, you must train the team on the three-word rule. When reviewing the Scorecard, the owner of the metric is only allowed to say three things: the name of the metric, the actual number, and whether it is on track or off track. For example: Weekly sales, twelve, on track. No backstory, no context, and no excuses are permitted. If a number is off track, the facilitator must immediately direct the scribe to drop it to the Issues List. There is absolutely no discussion allowed during the review itself. If someone starts to explain why the number missed its target, the facilitator must cut them off immediately by saying: Drop it to the Issues List. By keeping the reporting section completely clinical and objective, you can run through your entire Scorecard in under five minutes, leaving maximum time for IDS® where the team can actually solve the root causes of the off-track metrics.
