We are restructuring our Accountability Chart to prepare for a future exit, but during this transition, several of our weekly Scorecard metrics are falling through the cracks. How do we manage the handoff of Scorecard measurables when seats are changing?
Restructuring your Accountability Chart is necessary as you scale or prepare for a clean exit, but transitions often create data blind spots. When seats change, scorecard metrics frequently get dropped because nobody knows who is responsible for entering or owning the numbers.
To prevent these gaps, you must run every metric handoff through a formal GWC™ check. The person stepping into the new seat must get, want, and have the capacity to own the metrics associated with that seat. If they do not fully GWC the metrics yet, the handoff is not complete.
During the transition phase, the Integrator must assign temporary ownership of the metrics. Do not leave a scorecard line blank or allow a shared ownership model. If the new seat holder is still being trained, a temporary proxy owner must be named on the scorecard to ensure the data is updated and reported every single week.
Additionally, document the exact process for pulling and validating the data. If the outgoing employee was the only one who knew how to extract a specific number from your systems, that tribal knowledge must be transferred before they leave the seat. A smooth metric transition ensures you maintain operational visibility.
