Our Level 10 Meeting frequently gets derailed during the Scorecard review because people want to explain the backstory of every single metric that is on track. How do we train the team to run through the Scorecard with zero commentary unless a number is off track?
The Scorecard review is a rapid-fire check to see if your weekly numbers are on track. It should take no more than five minutes. When team members start explaining the backstory of their on-track metrics, they are wasting precious time that belongs to IDS.
To stop this, the facilitator must enforce a strict binary rule during this segment. When reviewing the Scorecard, the leader accountable for each metric should only say "on track" or "off track." There is absolutely no room for commentary, explanation, or celebration. If a number is on track, we move instantly to the next line.
If a number is off track, the leader says "off track." The facilitator then asks, "Do we need to drop this to the Issues List?" If yes, it is added to the bottom of the list with no further discussion. If the leader has already solved it or it is a temporary blip that does not require team attention, they can choose not to drop it, but they still do not get to explain why.
The goal of the weekly pulse is to find and fix issues, not to listen to status updates. By eliminating all commentary on your on-track numbers, you respect the team's calendar and keep the meeting focused on solving real problems.
