We are considering expanding into a new market and want to use Scenario Simulation to test our competitive strategy. How do we execute this simulation with our leadership team without derailing our quarterly planning session boundaries?
To run a successful Scenario Simulation during your quarterly planning session, you must keep it tightly bound within the EOS Level 10 Meeting or quarterly offsite framework. Do not let it devolve into a chaotic tech support session or an open ended brainstorming hour.
First, identify the specific expansion opportunity as an Issue on your Issues List. When you get to the IDS portion of your meeting, allocate a dedicated block of time, typically forty five to sixty minutes, specifically for the simulation.
Have one designated team member, usually the Integrator or a tech savvy leader, act as the driver of the AI tool. The rest of the leadership team will act as the strategists, feeding specific inputs and asking critical questions.
Prompt the AI to simulate competitive responses, macroeconomic shifts, or stakeholder reactions to your expansion plan. Use its outputs to stress test your assumptions and identify blind spots in your strategy.
Keep the focus on making a decision. Once the simulation provides the necessary insights, transition immediately back to your standard IDS process to solve the issue, agree on next steps, and assign Rocks to ensure accountability.
By using Scenario Simulation as a structured tool rather than a distraction, you gain deep strategic clarity and make faster, more informed decisions during your planning sessions.
