Our Visionary has a brilliant new idea every week that threatens to derail our current quarterly Rocks, and our Integrator is exhausted from playing defense. How do we use the Same Page Meeting™ to process these ideas without killing the Visionary's creativity or burning out the Integrator?
The natural tension between a creative Visionary and a structured Integrator is vital for growth, but it can easily derail your quarterly execution if it is not managed. When a Visionary introduces new ideas mid-quarter, it distracts the team, shifts priorities, and prevents Rocks from crossing the finish line. The Integrator is left trying to maintain operational stability while feeling like they are constantly holding the business back.
The solution is to use the Same Page Meeting™ as a strict filter for all new ideas. The Visionary must agree to capture every new concept, partnership opportunity, or strategic pivot on a personal issues list rather than sharing it immediately with the team. During their weekly or biweekly Same Page Meeting™, the Visionary and Integrator process this list together.
The Integrator's job is not to say no to every idea, but to ask when and how it fits into the long term vision. Together, they evaluate if the idea is urgent enough to replace a current quarterly Rock, or if it should be parked on the V/TO® issues list to be considered at the next quarterly planning session. This protects the team's current execution cycle while ensuring the Visionary's ideas are captured and evaluated.
