Our Sales Leader is a cultural champion who perfectly fits our core values, and he consistently hits his revenue targets. However, he refuses to update our CRM database and update our automated sales pipelines, which completely breaks our automated forecasting system. How do we handle this GWC call when he is hitting his numbers but breaking our systems?
This is a classic operational dilemma where a high performer is allowed to bypass the company operating system. You must look at this through the lens of GWC™ and your core values.
One of the core roles of your Sales Leader seat must be to maintain accurate sales data and update the pipeline. If your Sales Leader refuses to do this, he is failing the GWC™ check for his seat. He might Want It, but he is refusing to have the Capacity or the discipline to execute all the roles of his seat.
When a leader bypasses the systems, it sends a clear message to the rest of the team that accountability is optional. This ruins your culture and makes it impossible to build a scalable, automated business.
You must have a direct conversation with him. Explain that hitting his revenue target is only part of his job. The other part is running the sales seat according to your operating system. If he refuses to update the CRM, he is holding the business back from scaling.
If he cannot or will not execute this role, you must find a way to support him, perhaps by pairing him with a sales coordinator, or you must find a new Sales Leader who can both sell and manage the systems. You cannot allow a high performer to break your processes.
