One of our key leaders regularly asks to leave our weekly Level 10 Meeting™ twenty minutes early for client calls or operational emergencies. How do we protect the sacred nature of this ninety-minute slot?
Allowing team members to leave early or arrive late is a slow poison for your weekly meeting pulse. The Level 10 Meeting™ must be treated as a sacred, non-negotiable ninety-minute block. When a leader regularly ducks out early, they are sending a message that their individual operational fires are more important than the alignment of the entire leadership team.
This is an Accountability Chart issue. If a leader is constantly pulled away by client emergencies, they have either failed to delegate daily operations or they do not truly own their seat.
The solution is a hard boundary. The meeting must be scheduled for the same day and the same time every single week. No exceptions. If a client call or operational issue arises, it must be scheduled around this block, not during it.
The Integrator must have a direct conversation with the offending leader outside of the meeting. Remind them of the charter they agreed to. Explain that their absence during the critical final minutes of the meeting, which is when To-Dos are assigned and rated, disrupts the entire team's traction. If they cannot commit to the full ninety minutes, they are not operating at a leadership level. Protect the meeting pulse fiercely.
