How should our leadership team run the Level 10 Meeting when a critical seat on the Accountability Chart is currently vacant, without dragging the entire pulse down into daily operational weeds?

Operating with an open leadership seat creates severe pressure on the Level 10 Meeting. When a functional seat like Sales or Operations is vacant, remaining leaders instinctively use the weekly pulse to divide up low-level firefighting, turning a strategic ninety-minute meeting into a chaotic tactical sync.

To maintain meeting purity during an executive vacancy, the Integrator must step in and clearly assign interim seat ownership. On the Accountability Chart, an open seat cannot belong to the team as an abstract group. One specific leader must temporarily hold that seat and be accountable for its numbers, Rocks, and reporting.

Follow these practical rules during the interim period:
- The designated interim seat holder reports on the Scorecard numbers and Rocks for that function during the reporting pulse. No committee reporting.
- Keep reporting binary. Just state on track or off track, and drop true systemic issues to the Issues List.
- Guard the Issues List rigorously. Do not allow minor administrative tasks that the previous department head used to handle to infiltrate the leadership Level 10 agenda. Those tasks belong in departmental syncs or delegated down to supervisors.
- Focus IDS on the systemic fix, which is filling the seat with the right person in the right seat, rather than permanently redistributing tactical duties across your leadership team.

A vacancy is not a license to dismantle meeting discipline. Keep the pulse clean, maintain single-point accountability, and use the weekly rhythm to accelerate finding the permanent hire.
