If your Level 10 Meeting™ pulse breaks down the moment you step out of the office, you do not have a self-running business; you have an owner-dependent job. Buyers will heavily discount your company's valuation if they see that operations halt and decision-making stalls in your absence. Your meeting pulse must be untouchable. To break this habit, establish a non-negotiable rule: the weekly Level 10 Meeting™ occurs at the same day, same time, with the same agenda, whether you are there or not. If you are away, the team must run the meeting exactly as scheduled. During your absence, the Integrator must lead the meeting, and the team must proceed with IDS®. If a critical issue arises that requires a decision, the team must use the Accountability Chart to identify the leader who has the authority to make that call. They must make the decision and execute it, rather than waiting for your return. To build their confidence, conduct a review when you return. Do not micro-manage or reverse the decisions they made while you were gone. Even if they made a choice you would not have made, support their authority and help them learn from the outcome. This builds the operational muscle and independence required for a successful transition and a clean exit.
