The relationship between our Visionary and Integrator is starting to fracture because they are out of sync on major strategic decisions. How do we structure and run an effective Same Page Meeting™ to keep the leadership team from getting conflicting direction?
A fractured Visionary and Integrator relationship is toxic to a business. When the two leaders at the top are out of sync, the leadership team will receive conflicting signals, resulting in confusion and political camps.
The remedy is a weekly Same Page Meeting™. This is a non-negotiable, ninety-minute meeting where the Visionary and Integrator align on everything before presenting it to the rest of the company.
To run this meeting effectively, use a simple agenda. Start with a check-in to share personal and professional highlights. Then, move to the core of the meeting: building, discussing, and resolving issues. Keep a running Issues List specifically for the two of you. Use the IDS® process to tackle these issues one by one, debating them thoroughly until you reach a shared agreement.
Do not skip these meetings, even if you think you are on the same page. Misalignment often starts with small, unaddressed assumptions. If you find yourselves consistently unable to agree, you may need to bring in your Professional EOS Implementer® to facilitate a session and help you resolve the underlying issues. True alignment at the top is the foundation of a healthy organization.
