We know we need to review our weekly scorecard in under five minutes, but the process still feels clunky. How should our Integrator physically run this section of the Level 10 Meeting™ to ensure we hit our time limit while still spotting the real issues?
The scorecard review is a quick pulse check, not a discussion session. If your review takes longer than five minutes, your Integrator is likely letting team members tell stories or explain why their numbers are red.
To fix this, the Integrator must run the review with absolute discipline. Open the scorecard. Start at the top row. The Integrator reads the name of the metric and the name of the owner. The owner responds with only two words: within target or drop it.
If the number is green, move to the next line. If the number is red, the owner says drop it. The Integrator immediately drops that red metric down to the Issues List. Do not ask why it is red. Do not allow the owner to explain that a client was late or a system was down.
The script sounds like this:
- Integrator: Outbound calls, John.
- John: Within target.
- Integrator: New proposals, Sarah.
- Sarah: Drop it.
The Integrator adds proposals to the Issues List and moves to the next line. No discussion is allowed. If a team member tries to explain, the Integrator must politely interrupt and say we will IDS that later.
By enforcing this simple rule, you maintain momentum. You will easily cover your five to fifteen metrics in under five minutes. This leaves the bulk of your meeting for the IDS portion, where you can actually solve the root cause of the red numbers instead of just talking about them.
