When four or five numbers miss target on our weekly Scorecard, our Level 10 Meeting gets completely derailed before we even reach the Issues List. How do we keep the Scorecard review strictly under five minutes when multiple measurables are red?
The Scorecard review in your weekly Level 10 Meeting™ is not the time to fix problems, explain excuses, or debate root causes. Its sole purpose is reporting and awareness.
When a number is red, the person who owns the seat must say exactly two words: "drop it" or "as is."
If the owner says "drop it," the number drops down to the Issues List to be tackled during IDS® later in the agenda. If the owner says "as is," it means the miss is a temporary blip that has already been resolved or requires no cross-functional action, and the team moves forward instantly.
The Integrator must ruthlessly enforce this protocol. If a leader starts offering a thirty-second backstory about why client meetings moved or why a vendor shipment was delayed, cut them off immediately. Ask: "Is it an Issue or are we moving on?"
When you allow storytelling during the first five minutes of the meeting, you burn valuable energy on surface symptoms. Keeping the Scorecard under five minutes creates a psychological boundary. You report the pulse quickly, identify the gaps without emotion, and save all discussion for IDS® where the team can drill down to the true root cause.
