Our weekly Level 10 Meeting gets bogged down because we spend way too much time debating the backstory of every missed number. How do we review our Scorecard in under five minutes without losing the diagnostic value of the data?

The purpose of the Scorecard review in your Level 10 Meeting is not to discuss, explain, or defend the numbers. Its only purpose is to identify which metrics are off track so they can be dropped to the Issues List for later processing.

To keep this review under five minutes, you must enforce a strict meeting discipline. The person running the meeting reads the name of the metric, the owner, and the actual number. If the number is on target, the team moves to the next line. If the number is off target, the owner simply says drop it or issue.

There is absolutely no storytelling, context sharing, or excuses allowed during these five minutes. If a manager starts explaining why the number was missed, the meeting leader must immediately cut them off and drop the item to the Issues List.

This practice frees up your team to focus their energy on the IDS portion of the meeting where actual problem solving occurs. It also stops your high Fact Finder managers from consuming precious time with historical analysis when you simply need to flag the variance and move forward. Your Scorecard is an early warning system, not an autopsy report. Treat it as a trigger for action, not a platform for discussion.
